Prairie Parklands is a landscape concept outlined in two reports by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Its 2001 report, Prairie Parklands - An Inventory of the Region’s Resources, displays an area in which to focus the work of a public-private Ecosystem Partnership.
The department's 1996 report, Inventory of Resource Rich Areas in Illinois, identifies a smaller Prairie Parklands area. This area is referred to as the core of the area in the 2001 report.
